Lightning Visuals seeks to harness the power of data and graphics to inform and drive viewer engagement for the benefit of our customers

How it all started

Lightning Visuals was founded in 2018 with the vision of bringing a better way to integrate real-time data and broadcast quality graphics into live television and event productions.

Through the development of a cloud-based solution with sophisticated data management capabilities, Lightning Visuals saw an opportunity to bring new cost efficiencies to television production by doing away with expensive and hard-to-use legacy graphics systems and facilitating remote production. 

Our system was intentionally designed to be modular and automated where possible, making it easy for new designs and data integrations to be captured as the needs of our customers evolve. Further, as our system is HTML based system, our graphic outputs are not reliant on proprietary creation tools and systems in any individual system, which simplifies the process for deployment and updating.

With a one-to-many system configuration, Lightning Visuals can facilitate tailored outputs to different screen types (broadcast / in-app / at-venue) all driven by one operator.

Meet the executive team

Brendan Carmody

Founder / Chief Product Officer

Brendan founded Lightning Visuals and Smarter Data Solutions, companies providing broadcast graphics services and data visualisation. 

With 18 years of experience across events like awards shows and esports tournaments, he operates systems including Viz Trio, Chyron, Namadgi and Ross Xpression. Previously a graphics operator at BSkyB and stage director at The Conservatorium of Music, Brendan now serves as Lightning’s Chief Product Officer. 

Based in Sydney, he enjoys hiking, travel and guitar outside work.

Trent Carmichael

Chief Executive Officer

Trent is a seasoned executive and business leader focused on driving results and customer outcomes with integrity. 

He was most recently the CFO of an international infratech business with operations in 13 countries. 

Previously, Trent spent over 15 years in institutional investment, asset management and investment banking roles covering assets and transactions across ANZ, North America and UK/Europe. 

With a background in mathematics, Trent is passionate about data. 

Outside of work, he treasures family time with his wife and two young sons and loves sport.

 

Alex Hermanoczki

Sales Director

Alex is a dynamic professional with over two decades of diverse experience in sales and marketing . With a career spanning various sectors, he demonstrated exceptional leadership, negotiating skills, and a proven ability to overcome challenges. 

Driven by a passion for innovation and strategic thinking, Alex brings a unique blend of skills to the professional landscape. The journey reflects a consistent commitment to excellence and a track record of contributing to organizational success. 

Outside of work, you’ll find him either at the gym, on the water fishing or cooking a mean bbq.
