Live Graphics for Action and Motorsport

BMX

Action sports and motorsport share a problem most broadcast graphics systems weren’t designed to solve: the format is fast, the data is non-standard, and the visual storytelling has to work for an audience that’s often more familiar with the sport than the commentary team. A skate run is forty-five seconds. A BMX heat is two minutes. A drag race is over in under five seconds. By the time a traditional graphics workflow has caught up, the moment is gone.

We’ve built our platform around exactly this kind of work. Real-time scoring, judging data, timing splits, run-by-run leaderboards, telemetry, and live results all flow through the same automated pipeline — rendered cleanly across broadcast, streaming, and venue big screens at the speed the sport actually moves. No manual cue chasing. No stale leaderboards. No graphics that ship five seconds after the rider has already landed.

We work across the breadth of the category — skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, wakeboarding, BMX racing, and drag racing — including events sanctioned by federations like World Skate and AusCycling, broadcast on networks including SBS, Channel 7, and Stan Sports, and streamed globally through partners like Live Heats. Each sport has its own data quirks. We’ve handled enough of them to know what to expect, and what to build for when something new comes along.

Why these sports are different

Action and motorsport formats reward a graphics system that can be reconfigured fast. New event format, new judging panel, new scoring rules, new sponsor inventory — these change season to season and sometimes event to event. A platform designed for traditional team sports will need a rebuild every time. Ours doesn’t.

The other thing that matters is venue display. Many action sports events sell tickets to a live crowd as well as broadcasting — and the big-screen experience at the venue needs the same graphics quality as the broadcast feed, often delivered to the screen with no operator on-site. Our cloud-based system handles both from the same pipeline, with no duplicated production effort.
